Our next stop on this journey will be Ecuador, where we may join the World Race ministry partners in caring for neglected refugees and abandoned children with special needs. We may also share the Gospel with local students while taking in the stunning surroundings of the snow-capped Andes mountains.

Our focuses in Costa Rica will include: Children’s Ministry, Local Church Ministry, Special Needs Ministry, Teaching English, Feeding Program, Refugee Ministry

Facts:

  • Population: 17.51 million people. Roughly 5% of the population of the United States.
  • Religious breakdown: 74% Catholic, 10% Protestant, 8% Atheist, and 8% other
  • Common tongue: Spanish
  • Ecuador’s Mount Chimborazo is the place on Earth closest to outer space. Although it may not be taller than Mount Everest, because the Earth is not a perfect sphere and bulges at the equator, Mount Chimborazo is actually 1.5 miles “higher” than Everest.

Local Ministry Partners:

  • Inca Link: Inca Link serves as Adventures in Missions’ ministry base in Ecuador—mainly through their partnership with Casablanca, Inca Link’s guest house. The guesthouse managers, Fabi and Mabe, are passionate about discipling youth and mobilizing them to serve God’s Kingdom. They serve World Race teams by mobilizing them to partner with local ministries around Quito. Teams partner alongside ministries that serve children with disabilities, children living on the street, women formerly trafficked, and much more.
  • Pan de Vida: Pan de Vida’s vision is to spread the Gospel through meeting the tangible needs of locals in Quito. In 2000, the founder, Oscar met a young boy living on the street outside of his church asking for money. Oscar bought him breakfast at a nearby bakery, told him about Jesus, and invited him back for breakfast the next week. Years later, Pan de Vida serves meals to more than 1,600 people every month, and has grown to include a vocational skills training program, a children’s club, and a microloan program.
  • Bob & Lori: Bob, a retired police officer from New Jersey, and his wife Lori. moved to Ecuador in 2013 to raise up disciples and plant churches in the city of Cuenca. They desire to reach, disciple, train, and send the youth of Ecuador to spread the Gospel. Bob and Lori are living a truly missional life, demonstrating what it looks like to live in obedience with the Spirit every day, wherever they are.

I couldn’t be more excited to join our ministry partners in Ecuador for month #3 of our squad’s World Race journey!
