Happy 2020 y’all! So much happened over the Christmas/New Year time period that I won’t dive into all the details but it’s safe to say the time off of work and company of so many family and friends (including out of state visitors) was very much so needed! As joyful as the season was for me and my family, I couldn’t help but be a little sad thinking about how much I’m going to miss the fam and all the traditions next year while I’m gone on the Race.

With the start of the New Year comes the start of every accountant’s favorite time of year… tax season! Even though I don’t do a significant amount of tax work, it’s a busy time for us audit folk at the firm as well as the majority of clients have 12/31 fiscal year-ends. Luckily, I was able to avoid most of the travel time originally booked for and only ended up having to spend one week in Indianapolis versus the two weeks in Indy and one week in New Jersey I originally had on my schedule. On the bright side we’re only a little over a month in and I still feel like I have my sanity… Careful if you ask about that again a month from now.

On a much more EXCITING note… Throughout the last month some members of our World Race squad have been able to jump on a few video calls to unofficially “meet” each other! I know I’m no good at expressing emotion but I couldn’t be more thankful for this wonderful group of individuals and for the community we’re already beginning to build! The two video calls I’ve been on have left me with nothing but further reassurance that this journey is exactly where I’m being called to and the different perspectives everyone is already bringing to the table is blowing me away. After our most recent short little four hour call I spent the next five minutes pacing around my house with the only word I could manage to spit out of my mouth being “WOW”. Saying I can’t wait for October might be my biggest understatement of the year!

So what’s coming up next? You probably guessed it… Work, work, and more work. Kidding! Well, not really haha but I’m always trying to muster up the motivation to keep things excited and live life to the fullest! I’ve got some excited new fundraising ideas in the work that I’m stoked to share with y’all so stayed tuned!

  1. I am so happy to hear from you. I’m sure that as a CPA you are busy with tax season – but Micah, you know you can do anything you put your mind to and do it well. Saw the latest pictures of Michele’s new home and it is lookin” good. When you start your fundraising I will be happy to give what I can. Anyone who spreads God’s word is a friend of mine!
