Sorry this title could be a bit misleading. If you read that and thought wow, here comes a really insightful, revelational blog, I apologize. You’re sadly mistaken. This blog is simply about a camera.
A camera which I was 99% convinced the Lord was telling me not to buy just a short month ago.
Spoiler alert: I bought the camera.
After some great conversations with friends, reflecting on my why behind the camera, and sitting on it with the Lord, I decided to buy the camera. And it’s been incredible to see how He’s already used it for His glory.
About a week ago, our squad had an adventure day. A day free from obligations of ministry to just enjoy each other and the beautiful place we’ve been living in. I, along with a couple of squad mates, Daniel and Rachel, went on a hike to an abandoned ruined building overlooking the beach just outside of Jaco. Atop the building, while watching the sunset, I snapped this picture of Rachel.
Upon returning from the hike I began editing the photos from that day and when I got to this image of Rachel, I couldn’t help but feel there was a need for a few different versions of this photo. The following two photos are the additional products of my editing of this photo, both with very different feels than the original photo. I had no idea what these meant or why I felt the need to portray the photos in this way but I just couldn’t delete them either.
The next day I went to Rachel to show her the photos and never having done something like this before, shared with her that I had no idea what these different photos might mean. I assured her I had no expectation of her providing any kind of explanation to them either but simply asked if the photos meant anything to her at all to let me know.
Then the Lord worked.
The next night during our squad’s individual team time, Rachel had the opportunity of sharing her testimony with her team. Amidst her sharing, another one of her teammates received a vision from the Lord further explaining her story. Here’s the crazy part, the feelings portrayed in the photos I had shared with Rachel coincided with the vision shared helping Rachel share her testimony.
I’m not going to share any details from Rachel’s testimony, as it’s her story to tell, but it was a really sweet moment from the Lord to use a skill I’m trying to learn for His glory. It was uncomfortable for sure, stepping out and sharing these photos with Rachel without having any idea what they meant but I’m thankful she felt comfortable sharing with me the role they played in helping her tell her story and for allowing me to share it on my blog here. God is so good!
Coming next (for real this time): Details on our ministry at Ocean’s Edge and some pictures of the things we’ve been doing!!
Thank you for sharing these pics and the story with them!
Now I’m hoping Rachael blogs about it!! 😉
Beautiful pictures, Micah! I am sure the whole story is just as beautiful. Wish I could have heard Rachel’s story. Looking forward to seeing the ministry work you are doing!
