What? THE WORLD RACE!!!

Who? ~40 World Race Team Members from all over the world, all coming from very different backgrounds!

Where? 11 countries around the Pacific Rim!

When? 11 months spanning from October 2020-September 2021!

Why? To reach today’s people with Christ’s Victory!

While the who, what, where, and when are often the important logistics for anything you might be doing, the most important question I always ask is the why. So why the World Race?

A couple of months ago, I was sitting on my couch, scrolling through my Instagram feed around 8:30 p.m. and just happened to notice an interesting picture that someone I follow had liked. I clicked on the picture and was immediately intrigued with this post by a nonprofit organization I had never heard of before, the World Race! I spent roughly the next six hours scrolling through their account’s entire feed, reading and watching just everything they had on their website, and finally completing my application around 3 a.m. I’ve never felt a stronger, more immediately calling to do something ever before in my life and I feel the same to this day.

But why was this calling so strong? What fuels this draw that I have towards mission work and service?

Just over three years ago, a mission trip to a small, remote village in Haiti changed my life forever. In that short week, I experienced a whole new culture one can only comprehend by experiencing it themselves. I witnessed suffering and devastation like I had never even thought imaginable. But through it all I felt more love in one place than I had ever before, from complete strangers that I had just met. This trip opened my eyes to a whole new world of God’s people, prayer, contemporary Christian music, and most of all, a life of service, with which I quickly fell in love.

Why 11 months in 11 countries? Why not live out a life of service in the comfort and familiarity of the USA?

Throughout my college years and beyond I’ve also developed a particular love of traveling. I will never forget the major discomfort and fear of spending my first night sleeping alone in a Haitian home. Every night that week I would play the song “Lord, I Need You” by Chris Tomlin on repeat until I eventually fell asleep. I will never forget the utterly humbling and helpless feeling of having to ask around for someone who spoke English during my European travels because I had no idea where I was going, couldn’t read any of the signs, or how to communicate with anyone in their national language. But despite any discomfort or foolishness I may feel at times, experiencing new places, meeting new people, and learning of new cultures has helped shape me as a person and deeper my connection with the Lord.

I couldn’t be more excited to spend 11 months seeing this miraculous Earth our Father has created all while getting to share His gospel with those I come in contact with! And I can’t wait for you to walk this journey with me!
